Hello,
Being a new student from abroad i transferred to UGA, I met some friends (or so i thought) we took the same history class together in spring 2011. in March our T.A report that he believes unauthorized assistance had taken place. I needed help with history and she said she would help me out. So we began helping each other out, when it was time to talk to the professor about the situation i told the truth and admitted that we had been helping each other out and that if she didnt understand anything i'll assist and vice versa.Unknowingly to me the girl told the teacher she didnt know how it happened that i stole it from her laptop. to cut the story short the teacher decided to have mercy on me and just take a few points of. We had a final essay due and this time (since we were sharing books) I decided it best if I didnt go to her for help but just to discuss when necessary in class about the book report. During the summer break i got an email stating that teacher believed myself and the girl assisted each other. This time i was furious because I knew I was no where near her and i didnt ask her to help me with my essay. I had to have the meeting during a skype conference because I was out of the country on a study abroad program in Oxford and could not be there presently. the skype call when terrible as i could not hear the conversation, but was told the girl had said she didnt know how the paper came about being similar that the only way this could happen is if i took it from her laptop. Before I knew it I was given expulsion based on what she said and what the teacher assumed was right. I am not guilty of any of this as I have enough proof. I started off well, with a good gpa and now am scared no school will take me. question i want to ask is; is there any school that will be willing to give me a chance to prove myself? preferably in Georgia as I am new in this country and do not know places well.

I can’t suggest what school will take you, but I hope I can help you understand a life lesson. You say this girl falsely tells a prof you stole her work from her laptop; you narrowly escape trouble, but you still associate with her? Are the 2 of you the only ones in the class? You needed to do all your own work, or get a new partner. Surely, sharing books with this person was not your only option.
I don’t know if you violated any school rules, but I do know it was not college level smarts of you to go right back to her in any way after the first problem. Hopefully you are much smarter now. Best wishes with the next school.

Have you gone through the appeals process for your expulsion?

yes I have…At the moment I had to get a lawyer to appeal the case. So I am hoping that this works out. Yes I definitely have learnt my lesson with all this.
