Schools
(List of colleges by your initial chance estimate; designate if applying ED/EA/RD; if a scholarship is necessary for affordability, indicate that you are aiming for a scholarship and use the scholarship chance to estimate it into the appropriate group below)

  • Likely (would be possible, but very unlikely or surprising, for it not to admit or be affordable)

    Looking for strongest engineering schools

You didn’t list any colleges. Have you applied anywhere?

Have you identified a safety - a school you have a high chance of admission, one you can afford, and one you would be happy attending?

That’s a lot of APs for a school that you describe as “barely competitive.” Did you self study for those tests or was the class offered at your HS?

Did you get the National Hispanic Recognition Program award? You would include that along with the Rural and Small Town award.

Although the OP likely gets CBNRP for both rural and Hispanic/Latino, advancing to NMF (which most NMSFs do) tends to unlock a much larger set of scholarships than CBNRP status.

Right. I was just thinking that she may wish to signal her URM status, even though it sounds like her essays might mention.

No, I did not. I’m unsure as to why because I did apply.

Go to your Big Futures profile on the College Board site and scroll all the way to the bottom to see if you have a certificate there.

Yeah, nothing. :frowning:

After the Supreme Court decision, I’m not sure what URM adds in admissions consideration for an apparently wealthy “Cost Constraints / Budget … none” super high achieving student.

Wait, really? I know it doesn’t on paper but it has really shaped a lot of my life especially where I live.

Some colleges seem to be begging for URM status to be disclosed. I guess we’ll find out this admission season.

That is within the bounds of the Supreme Court decision. Go ahead and discuss in your essays.

Consider following up on that by calling or emailing the CBRP office.

Thank you. Does being from a rural part of the country affect admissions chances?

I don’t know the answer to that one. Problem is that about half the high schools in the US have the rural designation and many are actually large suburban schools.

FWIW, you seem to be a very strong applicant, regardless of any other personal factors. Where have you applied so far?

Got it. Any schools on the eastern half of the country that you think match my profile?

What kind of school are you interested in? Large, small, urban, rural?

Duke ED, Northeastern, Clemson
Plan to apply to Vandy, MIT, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Virginia Tech, and NC State

I’m not too picky, as long as its not a massive school, or smaller than about 4-5,000
Preferably in a small city, but as seen by my choices it is not a dealbreaker.

That’s a super broad question.

If you want to throw in some schools with significant NM scholarships to lower the price (your parents may appreciate this no matter how large your budget), the highest ranked ones in the east would be BU and Northeastern.
