Please name "cultures/atmosphere" at various colleges - the culture or cultures that predominate the campus so much that others feel a bit like "outsiders".

Such as: Preppie, Party, Nerdie, Techie, Very Greek, Hippie/Retro, Rich Kid, Laid back, etc or combinations.

For example:

XXU is Preppie, Very Greek, Rich Kid (If your family makes less than 7 figures, don't apply)

It would probably be good if any poster identified their affiliation to any schools that they provide information about.

For example, is the information based on experience, heresay, outdated information from a guide book, observtions from a one-hour campus tour? Are you a student, parent, relative of someone who attends that school, or a rejected applicant?

(If not, any information provided could just be self perpetuating some inaccurate stereotypes, and provide no value at all to potential applicants.)

1sok: You make a great point. Yes, please state first-hand info resulting from attendance, visits, etc. -- not old stereotypes of schools or myths.

Rather than classify schools using simplified terms, I suggested last year that college cultures could be described along a continuum. That suggestion resulted in a very long ongoing discussion about where various schools might fit on the continuum. You might find the original thread interesting, as many people discussed their experiences and views of different schools:
