PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me with these basic questions

Ok so I'm Canadian living in the US right now because my little sister has a life threatening illness. This is stressful. What is even more stressful, though, is living through this plus trying to get into university. Please help if you are reading this. I might have to fly home in order to get my stuff together.

1) Do you need to send in a physical copy of your high school transcript and teacher recomendations along with your online common app ones?

2) I may not be able to send these forms (if they are needed) until a week after the deadline of my universities. Is this acceptable? Or is there strict ruling on when an application must be fully sent in.

I have trolled all my university's FAQs, but couldn't find this info because the answer is probably obvious to americans but honestly in Canada they do not prepare you for ANYTHING.

If the answer to these two above questions is yes, I will be flying home tomorrow before schools close. If you read this please please please answer.

Thank you.

No, as long as your teachers/counselor send in your school reports/recommendations through the Common App online, you don’t have to send in a physical copy.

For many schools the supporting documents for the application (recs, transcripts, finaid paperwork, etc.) can be sent after the main application deadline so long as they arrive in time to be considered for the decision. The main app, however, must be received on time.

1) If you can send them electronically you don’t need to send a physical copy. I’d check with your counselor though because my school ONLY sends them by postal mail.

2) When I sent the physical copies of my transcript they needed to be postmarked by the date of the deadline. So since my deadline was November 6th it had to be sent by that day. It didn’t arrive at the school until a week or so after but it was considered on time because it was postmarked by the due date.

Good luck!
