Please rank these hooks, i.e which are most influential?

  1. Underrepresented Minority

  2. Legacy, the highest form of legacy (ie both parents, perhaps parents employed at university)

  3. Connection with a prominent alum donor (not necessarily family) who has connections with the administration of university

  4. Recruited Athlete, who also is strong academically (ie 32+ ACT)

  5. Wealthy parents who could donate A LOT of money, even if not legacy

Depends on the school, though usually 4 and 5* are much bigger than anything else. Some schools do not consider 1 and/or 2 at all.

*Assuming that “A LOT of money” means enough to build a building, greatly increase the size of a department, etc…
