I hope to receive an idea of what colleges are applicable for me and which ones are not. Please give me my chances at the following schools. I would also like to note that, if you have any suggestions or advice for another school that I do not know about, I would be grateful. I am just really a normal kid, that tries hard in school and does the best I can do, and in the meantime, I like to do sports and hang out. Oh, I wish to major in something related to business, such as Finance or Economics, but I want to do something in Law, later on in life.

Stanford University (reach)

University of Pennsylvania (reach)
University of Virginia
Carnegie Mellon University
California-Berkley (reach)
University of Michigan
Virginia Tech
James Madison University

Stanford, Penn, and Cal are going to be big reaches. Cal especially because your rank isn't up to their standards. I think 100% of them have a top 10% at Cal. UVA is a match, and Mich and CMU are slight reaches. The rest are safeties. For Stanford Penn and Cal try to get your SAT's up to a 1400+ or a 2200. Good luck!
maybe check out mary washington, Washington and Lee, Davidson, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, possibly UNC-CH, William and Mary.

thanks a bunch.. anyone else?

U penn, Standford, UCB, and UV I would say in all honesty that you don't have a great chance. To make up for you SAT scores, I'd either retake or REALLY REALLY make yourself stand out among the applicant pool.

ok. Thank you. I will retake my SAT I this october, and my SATII's the following test days afterwards. I would have to say UVA is one of my top choice schools so I wish to get accepted to that school. My brother also attends that school as a sophomore. Anyways, Thanks again.

It is my impression that UVA has a very stat-driven approach to admissions--relatively small office with a LOT of applications. When they used to have a point system (at least one they acknowledged they had), I think they gave you a small bump up if you had a sibling there. If you are from N.Va. you may suffer from the felt need to have a better geographic distribution of the in-state students (in other words, you're competing against a higher-stat pool). Work hard to get those SAT scores up in the fall administrations and if you can use the fall semester to squeeze up from top 15% to top 10%, all the better. If you're applying RD, you may be able to get 2 SAT I's in (if you need it) before you have to take SAT II's. Good luck, and Wahoowa!
