Please RD-Chance me for Vandy

Hi guys, I’m a rising senior and will be hoping to apply for a Bio/Neuro Major

(Planning on taking the ACT and the subject tests in September, likely will make 800 on math, 750+ on bio and lit)

Ap scores:
4: Bio/Phys1/Psych/Stats/Compsci
5: Cal AB/ Lang/ Apush

EC’s:
-Research Intern at a Neuroscience Department

-Shadowed at Methodist Emergency Center under Radiology Tech
-Surgery Intern at Methodist (experienced the latest in surgery technology and participated hands on)

-Work at Kumon
-I do fencing, but that’s more of a hobby since I suffer from asthma, and recently badly sprained my ankle
-Intern at the Arnold Schweitzer Fellowship
-Taught students how to Code

Awards:
-Best novice debate award
-Many, many top speakers and 1st place awards in debate tournaments
-Award for being a Coach (not sure about the reason I got it)
-National AP Scholar
-Presidential Volunteer award, gold (I have about 800ish hours done)

To consider:
-I have quite a few more Ec’s, but there’s really no reason to list them, i.e. Am. red cross, NHS, etc. Clubs that I’m not active enough to make it a highlight.
-I will be visiting Vandy in about a week

Your SAT out if 1600 is what Vanderbilt mainly evaluates, although they do look at writing. They report the middle 50% of math and CR, so make sure both are in their published range for the RD class of 2020 (found on the Vandy admissions blog). Your GPA looks eligible, though not the strongest in the RD pool. Make your application narrative cohesive and obvious - display your passions vibrantly and authentically. Good luck.
