I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experiences regarding financial aid for returning students. Also, if a younger sibling went to school, how did they handle it?

No personal financial info, just looking for comparative data year over year perhaps with respect to EFC, rising tuition, etc...

D2’s scholarship was not for a fixed amount, but rather a percentage of tuition so her FA increased each year to cover any tuition increases. No comment about how a second sib might have affected her FA since her sib is older so it’s N/A.

D graduated 2 yrs ago. Our family financial situation did not change over the four years, so her fin. aid stayed pretty much the same over the 4 years. I hear some schools lowball students after being generous freshman year, but we didn’t experience this at UR>

My guy’s FA decreased slightly the second year, but our income also rose, so I suspect it was about the same. They’ve been very close to our EFC each time.

We’re about to find out what they’ll do when his younger brother starts school, but it likely won’t come in time to help anyone with decisions this year since they give FA awards rather late (and we haven’t yet submitted all the paperwork on our end).

My guy is also going to be an RA in a freshman (quad) dorm next year. I’m not sure how that will affect anything - or if it will.

Haha Creekland, Thanks for the info, and neat he will be an RA. If my son goes there and your guy is his RA, it could greatly affect him (just not in regards to financial aid)
