I am an Asian 13 year old American citizen male applying from India to Lawrenceville Preparatory School. However, I have checked with the admissions board and they will not consider me an international applicant. I have only moved here a few months ago. Below is an objective report of my achievements. Please honestly tell me my chances of getting in.

Academics:

I've always gotten almost straight A's in America, with 5-6 A-'s and 2 B's in 7th grade. I've been in the gifted and talented program since Kindergarden, and I've been in the accelerated and enriched math since 4th grade (when it started). That means that my math would be an honors course two years above the "normal class". However, in India, my grades have been low, with my transition (C's and D's). The standard is different, though, with B's being what the average kid gets in his best subject. I have talked with teachers and altered my study habits accordingly; I am expecting A's and B's (except in Hindi) by the end of this year (our school year ends in December). In Hindi I expect C's. I know that these grades will be a negative mark on my application, but I hope to rectify this problem by the time report cards come.

Music:

I have played the piano since I was 5 years old. I have certificates, trophies, and medals, but mostly for participation in various tests. I have always passed these tests with a high score, but never done well enough to win a real competition. In 6th grade, I was in the school jazz band (playing piano). I have also played the oboe since 5th grade. I've always been the first chair oboe, and played in the 5th grade "jazz band" (which wasn't really jazz, it was more an advanced band for all instruments). In 7th grade I joined the YOCJ (an advanced orchestra from the area), and I was first chair against other 9th grade players. I am going to get a recommendation from my old instrumental teacher at my old school, since there is no school band in the school I currently attend. In addition, I was also the lead role in my school musical production in 7th grade (which is singing, dancing, and acting). I will also get a recommendation from the vocal/acting teacher.

Athletics:

In America, I did not have very many athletics that I participated in. I skied as a hobby, and I have a Junior Open Water Diver (scuba diving) certification. I have started flying lessons, though I will most likely not have a license or anything to show when it's time to give in the application. Here, I have started basketball, and the coach has said that he wants me on the team next year (I joined the school too late to be on the team this year). I also have some medals in long jump and triple jump within my grade level.

Volunteering:

In 4th grade, I used to help younger kids (kindergardeners) with their homework at a homeless shelter. Since then, I realized I have a strength for teaching, and I have been tutoring my friends. In India, I have started teaching three boys ESL and math. I hope for this to grow into a mini non-profit organization, as I get more people involved with it.

Other:

Right now I am writing a book, which an editor has shown interest in (without knowing I'm a teenager). You can find it at What went wrong? - Wattpad. Although the publishing process (if the book gets there) will mostly not be finished by the time the application must be sent in, I hope to be able to send at least a complete manuscript with my application. In addition, I speak English well, and I speak some Hindi, Chinese, and French. I hope to enclose an essay in each of these languages with my application. I am also starting to write my own language, spoken by an alien species without tongues who live underwater. Basically, it's a language completely consisting of vowels at various tones and relative lengths. I am hoping that this will go somewhere by the time it's time to give in the application. Also, I don't know if this counts at all for anything, but in Preschool (so my parents tell me), the teachers couldn't find work for me, so they had me teach the class instead.

I apologize if I sounded arrogant or conceited in this, but I know that my athletics and academics could use heavy improvement... Please tell me what are my honest chances of making it into a fancy school like Lawrenceville! Thank you!
