Please: YOUR ADVICES can HELP One ALIEN STUDENT Decision Making of BA/BS MAJORS in th

Hi,

↓About Me↓
I am a Japanese student of the college in the U.S. trying to decide which major I am going to. I have visited school, career, job pages and pages like wiki-answer on the internet to search which fields and major are demanded and hot for now and in the future. However, information at different places is pretty much different and I see both in favor and against. Therefore, I need your advices to decide my major and appreciate you helping me.

↓Reasons why I need your help!!↓
Now it is getting more popular, demanded and common for many students to get Master’s/PH.D in the U.S. Nevertheless, I am an international student, and I can only afford going to a university because the tuition for aliens are pretty high-not Master’s/PH.D/Law School right after BA/BS.
From other websites, I know that it is not easy to get a job in the U.S. due to difficulties of getting visa and recession; I still want to build my career in the U.S. and (in the future on the way of my career) if I could go back to a school to get MA/PH.D as I needed, it would be great.

↓Here is Question↓
⇒I really appreciate if you give me lists of recommendations and advices about hot majors with BA/BS for getting jobs and making good careers in the U.S. for now and near future (AGAIN: I cannot go to Master’s/PH.D./Law School because of my financial difficulties.==1. What BA/BS majors do you recommend in order to get highly demanded in the U.S. now and in the future? 2. Why? 3. Which states should I go to in order to get internships and more employment opportunities in majors that you recommend??

Also, appreciate you if posting good websites

I am sorry if my English is pretty strange,
Sorry for this long, but I SERIOUSLY WANT TO KNOW MY RESOLUTION FOR THIS!!

☆At the end, I appreciate all of you who give me any suggestions here☆

What is your visa status now?

If you do not have a green card (permanent resident status), you need to know that it will be almost impossible for you to find a long-term job in the US with just a bachelor’s degree. If you have an F-1 visa, you can work for one year with your OPT, but after that if you do not have a sponsor for an H1B, you will have to leave. Everyone that I know who has found a visa sponsor has a Ph.D. in science, and has many years of research experience.

I have heard stories about people who studied engineering or computer science and were able to find an H1B sponsor. But I since I have never met anyone like that, I do not know if the stories are true.

Whatever you study, be sure that it is something that will help you get a job outside the US.

Thank you for posting information, happymomof1.

I have a student visa right now, and I am pretty sure your stories are very true for many aliens. The thing is to get a sponsor during my OPT, yet I am aware of getting long-term working visa is very very difficult with BA/BS. But as one of the students studying in US even a foreigner, I still want to believe that I can get a sponsor if I study harder and get good connections by internships and so on.

I might be just dreaming…

But I got something from your comment that Science field must be stronger to get a sponsor if I could go to MA/PH.D!

I don’t personally know anyone who got a sponsor with only a bachelor’s degree. Everyone I know who did get a sponsor found one after finishing grad school and then doing many years of post-doctoral research in other countries or in the US. Some of them were professors at universities in those countries before coming to the US.

There is no easy way to get an H1B. You need to know that. No matter what you study, you need to be prepared to return to your home country, or to take a job in a different country when you finish your degree here.

I think even PH.D people could suffer getting H1B in the U.S. Only those who positions in top level and have careers are demanded in the U.S.

Thank you for your comments again.

What I can do is to study hard, enjoy American life, always seek any opportunities and prepare with flexibility for my future!!
