essays: pretty good

someone on cc told me that most of my colleges are reaches. and this makes me very very nervous. (the other colleges i applied to are barnard, columbia, nyu, vassar and bc)

yeah i would say penn is a reach.... but I'm a senior and korean like you so I'm not a pro at this. but I think for NYU u should be fine...

francis lewis high school is like a sister school of mine haha. my friend graduated from there last year. im at dozo haha.

Sorry to go off topic and not answer the question. I'm not too good at this chance stuff, but I thought the school thing was pretty cool :-)

haha thanks. i have a lot of friends who go to dozo too. =)

dozo?? one of my soccer teammates goes to dozo and my co-captain who graduated last year went to lewis with some of my other teammates...what are the odds???...they say the best soccer players come from queens, to bad they're wrong because i live in Brooklyn haha :-D

^^ completely off topic sorry about that; i'm not to good at chance threads either but i'd say its a reach, maybe a small reach but then again who am i to tell you your chances right, lol

Hey do either of you want to give names of people you know at Dozo? haha. Yeah I know I'm continuing the off-topic trend, but it would be pretty cool if we knew teh same people.

Since I'm off topic, I'm going to take a stab at the chance portion. Since I got in ED, I'll compare your application to mine :-). Your SAT scores are lower than mine, but Penn doesn't base their decisions on standardized tests... Since we both come from large public high schools, I think I can tell you that I'm pretty sure that's what helped me. I'm ranked 2 out of Dozo's graduating class of 957, and seeing as you have a good rank too, that can really help you. My GPA is 102, which is very close to your 99.62.. Your extra curriculars are wayy better than mine. In fact, I was sure that would stop me from getting accepted.

In summary- ours stats are pretty similar. It may be a bit of a reach for you, but definitely don't rule out being accepted :-)

^^^ laurgirl220....do you know anybody on the boys soccer team at dozo?!?

hmmm I actually don't know if I do... Most of my athletic friends are on the lacrosse team haha

And since I'm pretty unathletic, I don't know too many of the athletes..

haha, actually to tell you the truth, this thread is so much better than some of the responses i've been getting. it's been quite depressing, because i've been hearing lots of rejection bells haha.

wowww laurgirl you already got into upenn!! extremely smart haha. =)
um from dozo, i know some girls named raya, jane, vivian, allison and at the moment i don't remember haha. do you know any of them?

and i don't really know that many brooklyn people hehes. but i do know some ppl on the soccer team. =)

lol i don't know any Brooklyn people that go to doz...that'd be dumb lol but i know Jonathon and Jefferey from the soccer team and this other kid kevin, a girl named brianna and some others lol

oh my, Sue. Raya is one of my closet friends at Cardozo. I'm also really good friends with Vivian, Alison, and Jane. That's pretty funny that you're friends with them too. And I know Alison is applying to Penn so maybe we can all go together haha
