Plebe care packages

NP.... Lola wrote today that the COSMO she requested was confiscated and the first thing ever confiscated from her and I have SENT ALLLL Kinds of crazy things (including a Teddy Bear). And it was so well hidden! She said TRY AGAIN but I say HECK NO.. Those things are $5 a pop! She is having COSMO Withdrawals! GO FIGURE! SHE IS SUCH A FUNNY GIRL! I am guessing the male cadre are totally enjoying that COSMO if you know what I mean.. Oh thats gross. I guess my hand will get slapped again. Go ahead, somebody make My day.

NTEX.. We have had some of those flashlight written letters as well. Definitely a trick to reading them. When do they stop looking through their pkgs? As soon as PS is over? Thanks.

Yep, it is a new game once the Ac year starts. Much was requested; much was sent and never busted!

He even used the express office when ordering things on line that would not ship to a PO box. When they do that after AC year he did not need to be escorted over there. They receive the package and then email the Mid that it is there. The big thing is though they need to be prompt in picking he package up so that their company officer does not get the reminder - that is not a good thing.

KJ,
As a red blooded American Male I can guarantee you those cadre are enjoying the Cosmo. Consider yourself censored for trying to circumvent official Acad. policy by sending obvious contraband. What kind of message .... Oh to heck with it.

Sooooo, according to navy2010 I have to have posted stuff over 2,000 times before having an opinion......sorry doesn't work that way for me and I am NOT in the military......

Nope- that is not what was posted or suggested at all.
But I will restate, so as to make it clearer.
What was suggested is that you gather more information before jumping to conclusions, one way or the other.....unless you have been lurking more than your 13 posts indicate.

And you can say whatever you wish- and our sons- yours and mine- will defend your right to do just that.

So on that note, there is common ground afterall.

Nurserypoo- really, don't worry. Your letter-and your son- will be OK. Hang in- they are half-way through, and if they have made it this far, they have what it takes to get through the rest of it- honest! Have faith- it is all "uphill" from here!

That is very true- once plebe summer ends, you are free to send what you want, or what your plebes request. "cadre oversight" of carepackages ceases with the end of plebe summer- unless, of course, there is some Joe-Mid that did not get the memo-
anyway, the upperclass will have their own things to worry about once the AC year starts-

Hey navy2010. I am his Dad.

mdlrns's dad.... believe it or not, that is a relief! For a moment I thought md-jr was AWOL and getting his fix of CC folklore and controversy!

anyway, welcome aboard- hope your son is doing well - more than half way done I see- so best wishes for smooth sailing for the next three weeks!

Seeing as how this entire website is a public forum for people to express their opinions and discuss issues of concern, I expect everyone will continue to do that.

No one's 'opinion' is more valid than any other. Even if I don't agree with your statements, you are still entitled to have them. Just don't imply that others aren't allowed to have opinions different from yours.

Time 2- never, once, did I imply, infer or suggest that. If you interpreted that from any of my posts, then please re-read them.

That statement applies to everyone, not just those who are new to this form. Actually that has been the trouble all along with the listServ, treating new parents like we are their parents and implying that "We have been here and gone before" therefore our information will be better (more accurate) than yours new plebe parent. Well, we can prove that is not the case. Lots of "jumping to conclusion" occurs across the parent spectrum. There is so much information that changes from year to year, company to company and squad to squad that unless you actually take the time to check or have first hand knowledge no one on the list serve or that matter on this forum knows more than the next.

Offering different points of views and opinions will help all parent and their Mids in the long run. And lets not forget what was for the classes '08,'09,and '10 many very well not be the same experience for the class of '11.

As for Care packages during the AC year. Much varies beteew companies. What is allowed and when it is alowed will be completely different. Trust you Mid when they ask for something that you might have heard here, on the list serv or from another parent that is not allowed. My son's company allowed video games on Friday, Sat. nights and Sunday afternoon. They played a lot online with companymates, in many companies they were not allowed for Plebe's. Trust your plebe, don't be their policeman man.

The saying goes "they rate what they can skate" They know the consequences and if willing to pay then it is their decison and only theirs to have something that maybe is thought of as contraband.

Native texan- no disagreement with your above post- except that perhaps I am not clearly understanding your post- what I am getting is that perhaps you misintrepreted mine- correct me if I am wrong.

The comment to TR "to gather more information before jumping to conclusions" had absulutely NOTHING to do with USNA- but rather EVERYTHING to do with jumping to conclusions as to who are who are not "busybodies and queenbees" on this forum, and worse still, a condesending remark about "what the kids of these parents are like." To infer anything else from that post would be a misread.

It is clear my position is one of tolerance for those that bring different experiences and perspectives to the table- REGARDLESS what "year" at USNA or if they are a high school freshman seeking answers to questions. On that note we could not agree more.

I will repeat- NO NONE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS.
If we did, there would be no need for this site- period.

I do understand what you were referring to and did not misread the words in that first post #20. But by post 44 there seemed to be, as in all writings, maybe an underlining meaning that is also lurking.... I just took it a bit farther that it implies to everything that is posted here and on the Listserv. We all need to do our due diligence whether new or old users. Which was why my relpy had to do that your statement, maybe taken out of your contents, applies to everyone whether they are a newbie or a seasoned poster.

We have lost one seasoned poster - who I still correspond with and personally found to have good insight and humor, because she made an observation after seeing over two years of this persons posts, when she posted this observation see has been raked over the coals, received unkind PM's and called names too. She was a seasoned poster who thought she had done her "homework" A conclusion that many on this board would have come to but apparently she had it wrong at that moment of time.

I hope no harm no foul here I hope.

^^^^
no harm, no foul- absolutely!

but thanks for clarifying- just wanted to make sure I was on the same page.
Hopefully post #49 clarified the point I was trying to convey in #44.

And I do understand your sentiments re: seasoned poster lost- except I can't help but feel that it is all in the presentation.....
and on a forum such as this, giving-and receiving- the message as "intended" can be the challenge!

so again, thanks for the clarification!

These minor (and sometimes major) misunderstandings often occur when we communicate electronically. We just don't have the advantage of nonverbals that can help to provide a complete message. Maybe this is just a reminder that we need to review our notes before we actually click "post".

Seems we have gotten juuuuuuust a bit off the original topic of this thread.

Funny how some people take exception to things. Let's not over react to every word or phrase someone happens to use.

You are welcome to your opinions just as much as I am entitled to mine.

Let's move on.........
:)
