OK: so I am one of many applying to Brown ED and also to PLME. My question: do you know if there is any advantage to applying ED, as far as PLME admissions go?

Hi, I am applying PLME as ED.
Last year 20 out of possible 60spaces were filled with ED. And they definitely have higher chance 'cause it's like 40:1 as ED where as RD is something greater than that I think. I would love to be corrected, correct me if I'm wrong.

that's all. :)

I think there is a very, very slightly better chance, but not by much.

I imagine it gives you an advantage to apply to PLME early b/c it shows them that you know that's what you want ... as to whether it helps you to apply early to brown in addition to plme (say that you'll be bound to brown early even if you dont get plme,) I'm not sure. I've heard people say that it does help a lot b/c it shows your dedication to brown, and they want people who love brown as well as people who love plme. That said, I'm not convinced it makes so much of a difference that you should do it if you think you might prefer another college over brown (without plme.)

I was surprised how much my perspective on college changed once they admitted me and I was choosing them, rather than the other way around. I ended up being glad for the opportunity to apply to other places, b/c when I ultimately chose brown, I could be sure that it was exactly what I wanted. If brown's your clear first choice then go for it, ED, but if you have any doubt about it, I'd apply regular. Don't do it just for the statistical advantage if you're unsure.
