<p>It’s a loan application. You can do it at any time. If you need the money before school starts, you need to do it well in advance. If you just need the money for second semester, or as the year goes on for rent, you can do it a little later. Interest will start as soon as the funds are disbursed, so you don’t want to do it a long time in advance.</p>
<p>I think after June 1 for the upcoming year, by June 1 for the year ending. You need to have signed the MPN (master promissory note a certain number of days before disbursement of funds or you gotta do it again). Do it a bit early, as soon as that MPN will be good, because you can be turned down for PLUS and may have to jump some hoops to look for alternatives or fix the problem and start again.</p>
