Plzzz answer, Chances for me at Wharton

I am in junior year of a Canadian Hs. BTW my background is Indian. MY average for semester 1 was 97.0 % (99 Math, 100 Accounting, 94 English and 95 Physics). I am currently in semester 2 of grade 11 and i’m taking grade 12 physics, grade 12 geo, grade 12 accounting and grade 11 chem.

I have taken the SAT I test once and have not taken the SAT II test yet

my results were 780 Math, 690 Writing (10 Essay) and 610 CR (ouch)

I have been involved in Student council since about grade 5 and am currently treasurer and will probably be President next year. I am in a ton of councils, clubs and sport teams. Every year in high school I have spent at least three of my lunch hours in the week at meetings. I have been on the tennis and badmington team for 2 years. I have one numerous awards (medals, plaques, ribbons, certificates). I am also in debate club since I here that debating is big in the US. I have also been handpicked by school principle to represent the hs at the school board. Also, I was pres of student council for elementary school. I also do free tutoring for students.

In grade 10 semester 2 my average was 98.8 % (100 in Business and Geo, 98 history and 97 science). My lowest mark in hs was 90 in grade 9 gym and after that was 93 in grade 9 drama.

I am currently ranked # 1 in my school and have always been ranked # 1 in my high school and previous elementary school in marks. Even for the previous semester with my 97 average i was #1.

I have been handpicked by many of my teachers and /or principle to go to overnight conferences or camps, of which some have been all expenses paid including transportation a few nights accomodation and meals. I am also in 3 councils outside of school and have about 80 volunteer hours.

I did a paper route for three years in which i delivered to the mayor of my town and he and his family got to know me really well, so i can probably get a reference letter from him. I can also get one from my current principle and for my previous principle (who knows me better)

I want to be an investment banker.

Also, Ive had to babysit my younger brother throughout high school for about an hour in the morning everyday and after school till my mom or dad gets home since my parents leave early and come home around 6 -7. This may not matter but it just shows how i managed to accomplish all those things and extracurrcular stuff despite having to take care of my younger brother. sometimes if i have something after school or in morning i ask my mom if she can leave later or come home earlier.

What do you think my chances are of getting into Wharton? What about other ivy league schools or other good business schools like NYU (Stern), Michigan (ross), california (berkeley), u of texas at austin (mccombs), Cornell or Princeton (they offer a finance certificate)? How much do I need to improve my SAT’s and how important r they?

Thanks for ur help. PS sorry about bad writing/ grammar, trying to write fast

your SATs are pretty similar to mine actually, i had an 800m and a 600CR. i applied CAS tho, not wharton.

i think youd get into everywhere on that list just based on your class rank, sans princeton and wharton. but i know nothing.

The way you wrote that post sounds like a brag sheet, not a list of stats ("I had a 98.8% average; I have been handpicked," etc...) not to mention this part cracks me up: "This may not matter but it just shows how i managed to accomplish all those things and extracurrcular stuff despite having to take care of my younger brother. " It's always great when people say what type of character others should see in them.

I'm not tryin to brag, I live in Canada so I don't know exactly what kind of stats people have in the US for some of the schools I mentioned, sorry if it bothered u in anyway but that was not my intention. All I want is honest advice and how can I get any without writing what my marks and ec's are? Otherwise how r people gonna tell me if i have a chance to get in or not?

aj42288, what do u mean by sans princeton and wharton? what does sans mean? also whats CAS?

excluding princeton and wharton, College of Arts and Science

precisely. + additionally, i was accepted to penn this yr. so your sats are fine

aj42288 what were ur SAT I (M, CR and W) and SAT II scores and high school averages (not GPA because im from Canada and we dont do that)?

He already told you his SAT score and he applied to CAS which is a whole different ball game than Wharton

sans princeton and wharton, thats all im saying.

AJ32288 : what rank is your high school?

plus, babysitting your brother isnt gonna help unless you write about it in your essay

what rank is my high school?
i dont even know what that means.

and if theres such a thing as a ranked list of high schools in the country, id imagine that the bottom of the list would be in plain view for my school.

well, what state is it in?

pennsylvania... nowhere near philly.

u will ssssooooooooo get into wharton! i hear they love to hire nannies!

cough

not

I'm worried that a junior ranked #1 in his school doesn't know what "sans" means.

harvard2727, if I had the power to ban you from these forums, I would because you will lose 3 years of ur life here and end up a bitter stat mongerer...please go out in the sun! sun=good...you have 1 more year of freedom before college admissions kills u! for gosh sakes, you haven't even taken the SAT yet!

stripedsweater: my thoughts exactly

K2: my GPA and rank doesnt really matter because CAS is a totally different ballgame from wharton.
i know my unweighted was a 3.93 and weighted was like a 4.43.
my rank changed a bit. freshman - 1/564, soph - 2/564, junior - 5/564.

its all trivial in my opinion. your essays should be strong, and your extracurriculars should exhibit quality over quantity.

im sure it wouldnt hurt if youve had some business focus in HS or youre in FBLA or have ur own business or some ****. i have no idea, im not going to wharton so i dont know. CAS is where its at, for sure.
