I just recently took my first practice SAT test at a princeton review course and was not very happy with my results.

I know the princeton review test is not the real thing, but what is the most amount of points anyone has increased their SAT score over the course of two SAT tests?

That is a tough question to answer. I believe a student can improve quite a bit doing self-study properly, but I think a GREAT (not just a mediocre) SAT tutor can achieve more in almost every case. On your own, the most you can expect to improve is perhaps 300-400 points (which is still a lot). My students have seen increases of up to 500-600 points (combined over all three sections of the new SAT) in the past. Keep in mind that the probable score improvement also depends on your starting score. You can probably improve much more from a starting score of 1300 than a 1950, for example.

Yes max 340 points
I have tutored old sat since 1991 till it got changed in 2005. for 14 years our average Math improvement was 110 point and verbal was 70 points. We tutored over 300 some students. For the New SAT we tutpred about 100 students and the max increase in all three section was 340 points.

Your best bet is to follow the blue book and understand all the preobnlems really well and also watch all videos at

your first sat should be your benchmark and goal to beat every time . Don't worry too much, most students, with hard work , wil get a 200+ increase

my sophmore year i got an 1870 and then in jan of junior year i got a 2070. My question is do u guys think it possible for me to raise again somewhere along the lines of 200 points just by studying beacause ive heared the higher your score, the harder it is to raise something like 200 points.

500-600 seems like a pretty impressive increase.
Ho often did you have your students work on SAT studies and for how long (like hrs per week and over all time)?
my instructor gives me an assignment after every class but does not say if i should be reviewing or studying everyday.
Thanks alot.

With most of my students, I do a total of 30-40 tutoring hours over the course of typically 2 to 3 months. The students usually have roughly 5 to 7 hours of homework per week, plus a total of 6 to 8 proctored full-length diagnostic exams (drawn from official CB exams).

Achieving a 500-600 point improvement takes a LOT of work, and studying and practicing at least a little everyday is definitely almost essential to such an improvement.

Does your instructor make liberal use of official CB questions in the class and homework?

my teacher uses a princeton review book in which he reviews tips, and assigns problems. (class and homework)
i also take several diagnostic tests over the course.

and lastly, from your location and aim screen name I think you instruct some of my classmates. Does Peter Yu sound farmiliar.
