Pole Vault Boys

My S in a senior and a pole vaulter. He has been jumping for the past 3 years in hs and is jumping 15' and improving. We are wondering of his chances for jumping in colege any good pole vaulting programs. We are in Texas.

Thanks for any info or ideas!

15 is good enough to walk on in most D1 schools.

These recruiting guidelines might help … [Men’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/College-Track-Recruiting/mens-track-recruiting-guidelines). FYI, I’d guess being in a specialized event like the PV would make recruiting trickier since coaches may not use a slot even if your son is great athletic match if they already have a solid vaulter … totally a guess on my part.

Thanks to both of you, I’ll look at the guidelines. It does seem as though pole vaulting is a very specialized sport. My S also run-in the 100 and 200 but pole vaulting is what he is mos passionate about.

Hi, Texassky, have you discovered the Athletic Recruits sub-forum? You might find someone who knows something about pole vaulting there.

Go to College Admissions>at the top there are Specialty College Admission Topics = Athletic Recruits
