Polisci and Finance Internships

(this is an xpost from the umich forum, thought you guys might be able to help me out)

Hey guys, I was wondering how common it is for LSA students (in my case a polisci major) to land good finance summer internships (thinking about next summer). Despite not being in Ross or even econ (although I have taken 101&102), I'm an athlete, have a 4.0 coming into sophomore year which will likely stay the same since I have an easier load my next two semesters, and I have some decent ecs like research/clubs; will these be enough to compensate for not being in Ross? Thanks for the help

Banks may not like the fact that you’re not in the business school, but if you connect with alum in banking (there’s a TON from UMich) and do business-related clubs/organizations you should be fine. Just make sure you can relate your passion to banking and how your background may prove better than someone with a focused finance/accounting major (diversity of thought, public exposure, etc.)
