¿Polisci?

Hey guys, I was wondering what kind of political science related volunteer stuff I could do for the next 2yrs before I apply to schools. I would like something really choice to write a personal statement on. FYI I want to be a lawyer, so maybe I should work for one? I don't know.

Any ideas? Polisci majors, what did you do?
Thanks.

Internships: state senators/representatives, city officials (city council members/mayors/city hall/commissioners/etc); also, if you can't find an internship, you can still get involved through general communal involvement (red cross/cancer society/non-profits/clubs [school, or otherwise], etc).

If you are looking to work for a lawyer, I would start making calls to the local law offices, asking about file clerk positions --you might get lucky.

Really though, just get involved; it's easier than you think once you make the first move.

BUMP

10 char

Bump again...still wondering what I can do!!

I'll be getting a paid internship at a litigation service in downtown LA. They deal with other big law firms to help them prepare their case. Ask friends around school and in social circles. Someone knows someone who does something.

well u could participate in student government or advocate activities at ur campus. . .

My first response wasn't enough? What more do you think there is?

hey foux- one thing you could try is this-
rather than bumping your thread over and over again, try doing some research on your own. in fact, your CC almost certainly has some kind of career/intern center. Try getting help from people paid to know the answer. It will take more work than posting on a message board but you will probably get a much more custom tailored solution.

Seriously. It's not that hard to find something if you actually go looking. We are in the middle of one of the biggest elections this country has ever seen. Go volunteer to work on a political campaign because they will surely not turn down extra hands. Or go ask the head of the political science department at your school if they have any orginizations you could look into. My CC had a poli sci club that centered around talking to other students in the hopes of getting them to register to vote. This is actually one of the easier majors to get experience in so just get out there. :)

hey foux

whats your first and second choice for the UC's?

eek. sorry to offend with my repeated bumping.

remmert, at the moment my 1st choice is berkeley and 2nd is ucla.

At least you didn't release a chain of ?????????????????????????'s every so often.
