I was wondering if anyone here could give me a general background on the level of study in International Relations and Political Science fields. Are the professors well-known in their fields? Personable? Are classes fairly small? Opportunities for internship and study-abroad? Just whatever you think is useful.

I'm already convinced Rochester is a great city, and the camputs at UoR looks beautiful, so mainly i'd just like information on the political program.

Thanks!

PoliSci is one of UR’s traditional strengths and the department is highly regarded. Here is the [history page](http://www.rochester.edu/college/psc/intro/history.php) for the department. It says a lot about the philosophy.

IR is part of the PoliSci department at UR.

Poli Sci and International Relations are both very strong programs and are very well regarded. The Poli Sci department ranks in the top 10 or so I believe, and is among the top schools in terms of the volume of research produced.

Regarding research, see my earlier post about how high UR ranks in the citation index. That index takes all schools with >2000 articles a year and then ranks them according to how often their work is cited. Scaled with 1.0 as average, UR was tied for 15th at 1.71, with Yale and Boston University.
