How strong is Yale's in the international relations/public policy department?

bump... also anyone know about the political science dept?

Yale is in incredibly strong when it comes to international relations/poli sci. We have top-notch faculty like John Gaddis, Charles Hill, Ernesto Zedillo, Paul Kennedy, or Ian Shapiro, and what's more, Yale's focus on undergraduate education means that undergrads get the chance to work closely with them. the vast majority of poli sci/IR classes are seminars. Yale graduates tons of people who end up working at CIA (we have a long history with them), the State Department, NGOs, or international organizations like the UN. I know a senior who's job next year is so secret that she can't even say what it is.

Academically, there are a bunch of options for majors: Political Science, International Studies, area studies (Africa, the Middle East, East Asia, South Asia, Latin America, and the EU), History, EP&E (ethics, politics, and economics), or ERM (Ethnicity, Race, and Migration). people mix and match those majors as well.

Through curricular or extra-curricular opportunities at Yale, I personally have worked as an election monitor in Mauritania, written about Chavez's domestic policy in Venezuela, received a $5000 grant to go work at an investment bank in Tanzania, and worked as a research assistant analyzing election data in Palestine. You just don't find resources and opportunities like that at other schools (and i should know: i transferred here from Georgetown!). Best of all, I didn't have to compete with grad students to be able to do this stuff, as is the case at some other schools.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
