I would find it very helpful if any current political science majors could answer some of my questions! How is the FSU political science program? How does the major compare to the political science program at UF? Lastly, how are internship opportunities with the Capitol? Thank you!
For what it’s worth, here are their USNews & World Report rankings (for graduate school, anyway):
FSU Poly Sci = #40
UF Poly Sci = #50
FSU has a natural advantage by being in the state capital. This is also true for Law and Criminology.
That being said, I’m sure they are both perfectly good programs.
FSU’s got a built-in advantage being in the capital city of Florida with numerous internships available with state Senators and Representatives. Contacting your state-level rep or senator is a good way to find out if they have any internships available. You might get a response from a secretary or someone similar instead of them in person, but it still doesn’t hurt.
Both are probably strong political science programs, so you may want to let it come down to who provides the better grants and scholarships.
