It's awesome. It'll blow your mind.

Join CHP :].

CHP? California Highway Patrol?

I'm a polisci major. What do you want to know? (granted I'm only a second -year)

Uh, what are first year intro classes like in terms of difficulty, material, class size, teachers, etc. Basically anything you can tell me about being a first year Political Science major.

Amount of time studying, format of study, readings, what the major is like, etc.

Any info you're willing to give would be appreciated.

Campuswide Honors Program. A challenge would be fun, haha.

Hey yackityack. Sorry for being a little off-topic, but what do you generally think about the engineering students at UCI. I am wondering how engineers are looked at informally at UCI (i.e. bad communicators, hard studiers, etc.).

Yeah...I think I'd do the honors program for my major if I get good enough grades. Dunno about CHP though.

The stereotype about engineers at UCI is just like any other campus. They have a hard major, they study a lot, and they're nerds. But in reality, there are all kinds of people in engineering - nerds, flakes, spazzes, cool people, smelly people, fat people, thin people.

The most basic polisci classes like polisci 6a: intro to polisci have a ton of people in them. prolly 300-400. But most classes aren't that big and you have discussions with TAs that have about 15-20 people in them. Some of the intro classes can be kinda dry..not the most exciting..but I took an upperdiv class last quarter that I really liked since the material was more specific to a topic.

How much you need/want to study really depends on your style and how the prof operates the class. Readings come from textbooks and/or academic journals.
