Politically Conscious/Inclined kids at Brandeis

Are the students at Brandeis interested in political and international affairs, i mean, do they have strong views on issues, support one party or the other, like reading the Economist…(can’t help stereotyping).

I’ve heard that Brandies has very good pre-med and science departments, but (no offence) I wouldn’t like to spend 4 years in the midst of geeks (whom i respect very much).

Thanks

there are PLENTY of posts from opinionated premeds on this forum... try reading some of deispremed's or starcartch's entries.

brandesi has a republican club :P haha. if you jsut look at the list of clubs they have you'll notice that there are quite a few devoted to politics....

There are tons of politically minded people. Econ is the #1 major (followed by Bio, I believe...or maybe Psych) and there are a ton of politically-oriented clubs.

One of the main reasons I chose Brandeis is because of the crazy politicalness. I'm going to be an international relations major so that's a BIG deal to me. It's also pretty left leaning. There are Republican clubs about, but 9 times out of 10, any given student will be relatively liberal.

Is there an International Relations major at Brandeis. It doesn't say on its website. Is International and Global Studies the same as IR?

yes, IGS is essentially the same thing as IR. (Abreviations at Brandeis are always different. i.e. TF is Teaching Fellow instead of TA, CA is community adviser instead of Residential Adviser)

Now if Brandeis only spent some of that time and effort making the school better rather than simply coming up with new names for things...
