Politics Classes At NYU

Am I going to have a hard time in the politics classes at NYU if I am more conservative? I'm from the midwest and people consider me fairly moderate slightly leaning conservative but I feel like at NYU I will be considered pretty conservative compared to the people that go there. I wonder if I will have a hard time doing well in these classes if a lot of the teachers have extremely liberal views. If anyone could give me some insight on these classes I would greatly appreciate it.

just don’t take socialist theory and you’ll be fine.

i’m not being flip, it’s just the truth. while the STUDENTS may be liberal, the professors (on a whole) actually lean pretty moderately. (but NOT the socialist theory professor. he is very liberal.) hannity tried to blame him for getting a C in his class at NYU, but it wasn’t actually him. it’s on youtube, google “hannity confronts old politics professor” or something like that. professor Ollman.

my roommate and i have taken half a dozen politics classes between us (i’m taking two more next semester) and we both agree on this. professors will not fail you if you are a conservative. likewise, they won’t praise you for being a liberal. they have their opinions, but they are looking for your critical thinking skills. they don’t give a flip if you agree with them, what they care about is that you can form your own arguments.

the only way being conservative gets you in trouble is if you stomp around like the College Republicans do and go and boo at every. single. student protest like obnoxious jerks and walk around with your chest puffed out looking for a fight with a liberal student. don’t do that, and you’re fine! ;-)

well I was thinking about getting involved in college republicans but I promise I have to much to do to go protest protesters or start random fights… lol

there’s literally six of them.

when we were doing election stuff last year, College Dems + College Republicans, there wasn’t that many Republicans.

i’m just being honest. actually, upstate NY and my home town, Staten Island, and the UES of Manhattan are all pretty conservative. it’s just that NYU isn’t. so there’s going to be way more people in other political organizations.

if that guy who runs the group now graduates, you’ll be fine. he’s just really pompous and obnoxious to anyone who’s NOT a Republican, and really, there’s no reason for it. the College Democrats were nothing but nice to them and they just hrmphed and stomped out of any joint meetings we had. (both of the organizations ran giant voter registration drives last year.)

Lol… that sounds bad, although i’m sure there is another side to that story. Are you in college democrats then? Also, is there anyone out there who is more conservative that can tell me what they think?
