I am planning on becoming and undergrad in Electrical Engineer. I have been accepted to these three schools but need some thoughts on them. I would like to hear in terms of the programs and academics as opposed to things like money. Campus life would also be important.

SB for sure. Drexel is not worth the money.

NYU-poly.
Good
Prestigious
Private school
Great job offering
Big city

Cmony is right that NYU-poly would give you a great education in a good location with a good amount of prestige in the metro area. However it is a commuter school very few students actually dorm there and has a heavily skewed male to female ratio. It would definitely not give you the traditional college experience. I have a few friends that attend there and what they have to say about it is that it is expensive for it's caliber compared to higher ranked SUNY state schools, there are no parties or campus events everybody goes home after school, almost like another 4 years of high school minus the social life. Campus life in the traditional sense would be pretty terrible but if you are looking for a strait EE education it is a good choice and has many internship and work opportunities present. However I have been told it is also very difficult to graduate in 4 years even compared to other tech schools.

Stony Brook is another popular choice in my school so I also know quite a few people there. What they have to say is that it is a fantastic big school excellent for sciences. Affordable tuition and more of a traditional college expereience. However the school is overcrowded, food is very very expensive which they say is a much bigger problem than it seems, lectures are large, professors are knowledgeable but half don't speak English well, and it can get very boring on the weekends. Almost all the kids are from long island or nyc so everyone goes home for the weekend and it is literally like a ghost town.

Drexel is most notable for its co-op program and that's its biggest advantage vs the other schools. If your the type of person that would like a real paid job doing something in the electrical engineering field, than Drexel is for you. And by jobs, I mean a 6-month work experience like working at lockheed martin. Def gives you a head up vs any of these other schools with work experience and getting your foot in the door. I'm not sure about any of the other schools, but Drexel has a big campus life, and is in University City right in the heart of Philadelphia. There's always something to do both on and off campus. If you have any other questions about Drexel post them on the drexel message board.
