Pomona/Claremont College's theater program in comparison to some other California schools

I’ve heard (directly from this site) that the Claremont College’s theater program isn’t great. However, I know Pomona thrives in other areas like English and Philosophy.

Compared to a college known for their theater program, like Loyola Marymount University, the UC’s, or USC, how does it compare? I’m all gung-ho about the former except for the religous aspect, which is why I’m looking into Pomona. The alumni at Pomona also seem to be more successful than at LMU from what I’ve briefly gleaned.

And is there a screenwriting major at Pomona?

Bump

My guess is that the reason you may not get many answers to this is that there may be few people with experience at both. You may have better luck looking for people to talk to you about theater on threads specific to Pomona/Claremont consortium (or via student blogs, Instagram or Facebook).
And better luck asking for feedback on LMU religiosity impact on threads specific to that school.

I have no experience with LMU but I do know many non-Catholics with firsthand experience at Catholic colleges generally who find it to be a non-issue. Even very liberal people who disagree with some of the official Catholic positions on certain issues. (As, for that matter, do many Catholics themselves.) Keep in mind that Catholics aren’t typically evangelical. Usually there’s more of a focus on missions related to social justice, and they’re pretty live-and-let-live when it comes to other people’s faith (or lack of faith).

My D is a freshman at LMU. We are Catholic but she’s not religious at all. It is a complete non-issue. The Jesuit mission is one of service and you can get involved in that if you want but there is definitely no pressure to do so. Each dorm has a counselor living in it and they are all of different faiths. And kate is correct…we Catholics don’t push our religion on people at all!
