Pomona Class of 2017

Our son was admitted EDI and we see a lot of you talking about admitted students day. We can’t figure out what you are all talking about. We didn’t receive any info on it and were wondering what it was and how everyone is signing up for it. Please advise on how to sign up and get some info on it… Thanks and congrats to all of you…

Our S also admitted ED1 and we too haven’t gotten anything about Admit Days. I spoke with Parent Relations office and they said the ED kids are included in Admit Days (April 15 and 22) and should be getting info about it in the next few days. If I don’t get the info today, I will follow up with my contact on Monday AM and post here.

Admitted students day sealed the deal for my D, three years ago!

What is Admitted student day? We are clueless on it and can’t find any info…

I finally got my financial aid letter but pomona is still pretty unaffordable… I’m low income and my family can’t pay this much. Shouldn’t have withdrawn my application from the state flagship.

I got the big letter in the mail yayyyy!!!

@ kelgrl
I’ll be going on the 22nd too :D

It took 9 days for my rejection letter to be delivered. I pretty much knew that was going to happen; this is my 12th rejection. Congrats to everyone who got in. It’s a great school!

Did it say what the admission rate was?

There are 400 undergraduate spots for 7,100 applicants. Obviously they are going to take more than they have room for because not everyone is going to commit to Pomona. I’m assuming they probably admitted 800-1,000 students, which is about a 11-14% acceptance rate.

Don’t forget they accepted 79 students EDI and I don’t know how many EDII, which makes the RD round even harder.

Accepted! Visiting on the 14th. But they say our expected family contribution is over 15k more than what FAFSA predicted…I thought Pomona’s financial aid was great?? Do they expect us to take out loans as well?

The EFC for Pomona is different from FAFSA since they mainly rely on the CSS Profile I think… or certainly rely as much on that. There are things that includes that are not part of the FAFSA calculations, especially in terms of assets. Good luck with your planning.

does anyone have any idea how we decline pomona’s offer? I was torn but finally chose my other top choice school and want to open my spot to someone on the waitlist, but cant figure out how

I would just call Admissions.

My D just mailed her deposit, and I think there was a box to check on the inside flap of the reply envelope that said ‘I am not attending’. Just check the box and seal and drop in the mail (no stamp needed).

@mamabear- thank you! I already recycled the admit packet (it didn’t occur to me that I wouldn’t be able to reply online) so I think I’ll just shoot them an email. Congrats to your d about getting in and all the best next year!

Has anyone on the wait list heard back yet?

See waitlist thread.

I haven’t heard back yet. Could this be a bad sign?
