Although it may appear to the contrary, we do know that people have a life beyond what they do
to get into college. Tell us about an experience youve had outside of your formal classroom and
extracurricular activities that was just plain fun.

I'm planning to write about a fun volunteering (aka community service) activity I did recently, and I really didn't do it for the hours. But would the admissions office look at this as an extracirricular activity because its community service (ppl often do it for college)? I think it would be fine but just want to make sure, thanks

I don't like the wording at all of the prompt. It assumes that students strive to do well in class and engage in organizations and competitions JUST TO GET INTO COLLEGE. Some may, but alot of others don't.

But I think the intent of the prompt is for applicants to expand on something more, uh, trivial? Like, say, watching classic movies, going to broadway shows, messageboarding (lol)...something that's not included on the rest of the application. But I agree with the poster above, approach it with a different angle than you would a "expand on an EC" essay.
