akwired,

My son had to make the same decision this year between Pomona and Brown. He did choose Brown, largely I think because of the open curriculum, the wonderful academic opportunities, and the proximity to Boston by train. (He is really into classical music, in fact, anything classical.) Still, he is sorry he could not also go to Pomona. It supposedly has the happiest students in the country if you believe Princeton Review!

I wonder if you have heard yet about your aid? Pomona's financial aid is WONDERFUL, and was one of the main reasons the decision was tough for S. For Brown he will have to borrow about 3,000 more for the 1st year, and the parent contribution is a good bit higher. Though Brown waives work-study the first year, they do expect higher summer earnings ($2,150) and expected a larger contribution from his savings.

If the financial end is crucial, I would await the aid package from Brown. Good luck to you!
