Pomona RD notification mid February?????

It’d be nice if it were true but I’m sure it’s not.

Poor overworked adcoms. Haha that’s a funny mistake. I wonder if they’ll send a correcting email? I bet they get a bunch of emails from people asking if this is really true.

There have been worst mistakes. A few years ago, UCSD sent out the invite to the preview weekend to the rejected students. My daughter also received a “We have all your documents and we will let you know at the <rd date=”“>” from the ED school that had rejected her. There are threads about all the mistakes.</rd>

Trust me, this is minor.

Hahah, I remember the UCSD mistake! That was really bad, I belive they sent that e-mail to over 20,000 students, many of whom were rejected.

Anyway on topic, no you will not be notified in mid-February for RD. Or else deferrances for EDII would not make any sense. It was most likely a mistake. I applied through EDII and that is what it said in our e-mail. (“We are happy that you initiated an application to Pomona College under our Early Decision 2 program. According to our records, we have now received all of the documents required to complete your application to Pomona . We will notify you of the Admissions Committee’s decision in mid-February.”) You will have to wait till late March

Anyway good luck to all from a Class of '15 Sagehen! :)

Its not like Pomona to make these kinds of mistakes. Maybe they are coming out with their decisions a few weeks earlier than we previously expected prior to this?

funny thing…when i saw the email my first reaction is to come on CC cuz i am very sure that there is already a discussion on it. People just accept that its an honest mistake by Pomona.

Has anyone emailed them to ask? I’m curious what they have to say. Even though I’m all but 100% sure it was a mistake, there’s still a little part of me that hopes it wasn’t.

Why are people so naive? Read the posts by Manarius, NYC, and anotherparent. There is no point getting your hopes up when you clearly won’t know until late March. Colleges make mistakes, and this is one of them. And think about the deferred applicatants from ED: the colleges aren’t going to have time to re-evaluate their applications and check everyone else’s literally one week after EDII. Sorry if I come across as a a ******, haha.

Tl;dr? You’ve been ■■■■■■■.

I decided to look up this topic on CC and I found it
I wish it was true…but yeah, it probably was a mistake :/

If their original admissions materials gave a notification date of March for ED2, I would go with that. Hey, Pomona does make mistakes! They made a mistake on my son’s ED1 enrollment form this year saying that the enrollment fee was waived, which conflicted with the acceptance letter which said the fee had to be paid. It’s a good excuse to call the admissions office and ask. They were very apologetic and gave me a nice opportunity to chat with the lovely admissions people there. A correction letter went out soon afterwards.

Monday is President’s Day so they may not be open.

They just sent a clarification:

It has come to our attention that the wrong email template was used indicating that your application to Pomona College was complete, and that you would hear from the Admissions Committee about your Regular Decision application in mid-February. Although your application is complete, you won’t hear from us until early April when all Regular Decision letters are normally mailed.

We didn’t mean to get your hopes up as we are still very much in the process of selecting the Pomona College class of 2015. We apologize for the confusion.

Do we really have to wait until April?!

Last year they notified on March 25th. I suspect this is probably a better indicator. Often the published date is an internal deadline, but they try for earlier.

Did they notify by email last year? Thanks

Last year notifications were via snail mail, one of the last days in March - right before the Ivy notifications.

Sadly, I received neither of these emails… Is that a problem??

Have you logged into your account? did you get the log in info?

I was so excited when I saw mid feb at first haha.

On the website, it says they mail decisions April 5
[Application Deadlines - Pomona College](http://www.pomona.edu/admissions/apply/application-deadlines.aspx)

Yes I have been on my account. Several times actually. But maybe I haven’t received an email because my midyear report and signature page were only sent last week.
