Pomona vs Haverford

Which school is better for the best overall experience? Interested in molecular/cellular biology.

Both are great schools, but I think Pomona is better overall, especially for science. Haverford's biology department is very strong, but I'm pretty sure that Pomona's is as amazing or better. Pomona invests a ton of money in its science facilities and the opportunities for research are outstanding. Plus, you can supplement Pomona's science offerings with those at Harvey Mudd, another Claremont College and outstanding science institution. The Claremont Consortium is far more dyanmic than Haverfords? Why take a bus to classes at another college when you can stroll over to another one of the Claremonts in your flip flops.

I've heard mixed things about the social life at Haverford, but know from first hand experience that Pomona's social scene is amazing...five college parties every weekend, laid back students, free kegs and California weather.

Lastly, Pomona is more selective and prestigous than Haverford. Pomona is more comprable to Swarthmore, one of Haverford's neighboring institutions. Generally, people consider WASP (Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore and Pomona) the top liberal arts colleges. It sounds like you've been lucky enough to be admitted, so why not attend?

D chose Pomona over Swat for the convenience of interacting with students, faculty, etc., of the other Claremonts.

Good luck with your decision!
