Pomona has a unique admission policy which, for some reason, they don't openly brag about it.
At Pomona, international students who are graduating high school in the US are treated like domestic students, meaning need blind and eligible for ED.
There are only six colleges in the US that are need blind for all international students, and a few colleges that are need blind for citizens of Canada and Mexico; Pomona is the only college I know of that is need blind for international students living in the US.
You have to dig deep their website and ask their admission office to find out.

To be honest, I do not understand this policy at all. I think they presume that international students who complete high school in the US are generally well-off. Otherwise, it would imply a bias for an American high school education over all the different curricula offered all over the world.

I think they are just being fair for international students living in the US. They can’t apply colleges of other countries, and their family contribute to their community as much as citizens, and some of them are just a few months shy of getting their green cards.

Are you referring to illegal immigrants? Because in that case, good job, Pomona! lol

My DS14 is an International student (UK/US) and dual citizen, attended HS in the USA applying RD to Pomona, he also applied and was denied at Oxford. Pomona does attract very very accomplished students from all over the world, very pleased to see they treat all students equally.

The policy exists for undocumented students and students living on a VISA in the USA (they definitely exist). These students face special difficulties applying to top colleges or even most colleges due to their status, especially undocumented students, who can not leave the country at all without fear of not being able to return. Pomona is trying to move towards a unanimous need blind policy for all students- a 18% increase in the endowment (to 2 billion +) which was recently announced should make it easier.

Does this work for any international transfer applicant who graduated from american high school?
Can attest to what debakianmj said above. Friend from Korea was living on a VISA and family couldn’t afford to pay international student tuition. His family had been living in the US for 4 years and were rejected for citizenship multiple times. Pomona’s need blind policy made it a gem and top choice for him.
This is wrong. Pomona is NOT need blind for international applicants. I was told this directly by an admission officer.
My bad. I misread the original post.
Pomona is need blind for international students who went to high school in the USA and need-aware for international students who didn’t. Says so on the second question here: https://www.pomona.edu/apply/admissions/international-applicants/faqs
