Poor Character and Behavior in College Athletics

There are reports of boorish and scandalous behavior every year in NCAA competition, but Danny Jennings' conduct has to be a first. The West Virginia University basketball reserve player quit the team, in the midle of the game!!!

Well, West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins will never be confused with Dean Smith or the late John Wooden when it comes to the character of the players he recruits. And he's no stranger to controversy. And what about the profane tirade Kentucky coach John Calipari demonstrated against one of his players DURING A GAME last week? I love the great things about college basketball but I guess overall, big-time college sports are simply reflecting the general decline in societal mores.

College athletes and coaches are under a greater microscope than students in the general population on campus. Otherwise, you might discover that they are equal scandalous and boorish.

There has been a general decline is societal mores. We are all Romans. The bigger and stronger our empire got post-WW II the weaker and more debased we became. China, and the rest of asia, will mor than likely make that abundently clear over the next century as they out think and out work us and eventually take whatever it is they want since we won’t be able to do much about it.

I hope I am wrong.

And, of course, all of it is caused by a coach using bad words to a player.

Calipari is a sleazebag and always has been. The Kentucky program follows right along with him. Yes, there are certainly issues in college and professional sports. No news there. Very talented, adored, spoiled young people who have worked very hard, but aren’t always prepared to handle what comes with their success…

Calipari shouting at a kid is nothing compared to the way he’s messed with kids scholarships as he hops from program to program hoping to avoid the NCAA sanctions. He’s actually ruined lives.
