Poor GPA Freshman Year and switching Major : Should I transfer?

I thought I could be a successful Computer Science Major at the university I am currently at, but all of my coding classes and introductory pre-req classes are looking like a C. I got a 3.47 first semester of freshman year (due to a b+ in math and a c+ in computer science 101). I stupidly took it upon myself to continue and I believe I am only going to get a 3.09 this semester, which averages out to a 3.2 (i used a gpa calculator). However I want tor radically change my path and switch to a major/career in speech pathology. Should I transfer to another school so that my transcript is wiped clean after I get there? Or should I just continue going to the college I am currently and just get 4.0s from now on. Any advice/input would be helpful!

If you stay at your current school, would you still switch your major or would you stay a CS major?

Hi @candyymandy , if I stay at my current school I would switch my major. Right now, I am technically undeclared and was trying to GET into the CS major. If I stayed at my current school, I would switch to a Psych B.S on a speech-pathology track essentially. Outside of actual academics right now, I do like my school. And it does have a good Psych program, and is relatively affordable. So there are benefits, I’m just worried about future MS programs seeing my Comp Sci classes and the C’s (and potentially D’s) next to them

When you transfer, your old courses won’t be counted in the new school’s GPA calculation, but if you apply to grad school you must submit all your transcripts from all colleges attended.

If you otherwise like your school, don’t transfer thinking it will help with grad school.

@AroundHere Do you think grad schools will take my freshman year grades into high consideration if they are not major related courses?
