POP programs?

Did you participate - which one and how did you like it?

Hi - I’d have to say that, like most activities, the success of any POP program depends on what your student wants to get out of it. Does he want to meet a lot of people? Get to know Chicago? Become more immersed in his faith at NU? My DD (Bienen student) did PWild which is the 8-day hiking trip along the Superior Hiking Trail in northern MN. She is into fitness but not at all outdoorsy. She wanted something completely out of her comfort zone and she got it! When I met her on campus for move-in, she said “It was great and I’ll never do it again.” She really enjoyed it and made some friends. The students are divided into hiking groups of 10 so each group gets very tight. If you student wants a broader social experience, there is CATalyst which is (I think) about 80 students together, at a woodsy camp but not a camping/wilderness experience. I’m not at all familiar with the other programs.
