Hey guys I was looking at all the pre-wildcat welcome programs and I can't decide which one to list as my top choice. I've narrowed it down to catalyst and pwild but I can't decide. Any opinions or insight?

Do CATalyst. PWild seems to have some problems right now.

[In Focus: P-Wild faces issues of hazing similar to Greek groups but without same oversight - The Daily Northwestern - Northwestern University](http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/in-focus-p-wild-faces-issues-of-hazing-similar-to-greek-groups-but-without-same-oversight-1.2578229?recent=22)

Averby- though I am in no way affiliated with Pwild, that article seems transparently to be another butcher job/ yellow journalist affair by the daily. That it was followed up by an authorless Editorial seems to confirm someone on the daily staff just doesn’t like them.

Pwild is a great program for some people.

That said, I think catalyst is a cooler program.

I was accepted to PWild but chose not to go because I didn’t think I could handle the intense hiking every day. A few of my friends did it and they loved it, made amazing friends, and say that it changed their college experience for the better. Don’t rely on that Daily article for an accurate representation of PWild.

I loved my PWild experience. I was the only one on my trip that had been backpacking before, and everyone in my group all made it through (PWild makes it pretty easy because most people are all newbies).

The Daily article is simply journalism students trying to get some gritty expose on the resume when they apply for jobs by trying to expose a risque topic that really isn’t that risque. Happens multiple times every year – as a graduating senior, I’ve gotten used to it.

Thank you guys for your input!!!

averby- I read the article but then I read a lot of the comments too and it actually made it more appealing with all the people talking about their good experience with the program.

suppasonic- glad to hear it because I made it my number one

How and where do we sign up for these programs?

open up that email NU sent you that’s supposed to serve as an alternative for Purple Prep, then skim through to the section that has all the trip descriptions. The link to sign up is there

I applied to Catalyst as my top choice. My second choice was Elder Lead, even though the Prewild application website did not show Elder Lead as one of the choices. The Purple Prep book showed as one, tho. I wrote an email to Prewildcat authorities about it.

Now I am accepted to Elder Lead. What do I do now? Wait for the Catalyst? Am I allowed to cancel on Elder Lead if I get accepted to Catalyst?

This dilemma is serious especially because if one is accepted to Elder Lead, one is assigned to that dorm. I do not mind living in Elder but I would rather do the Catalyst and be stripped of the right of living in Elder. Any advice?

prjiki- I am in exactly the same situation as you. I sorta applied Elder LEAD as a backup if I don’t get accepted to the programs I wished for (PWild and Catalyst). I was accepted into Elder LEAD as well, but I want to see what else I got into… I hope they don’t withdraw my application just cuz of that.

Anyone?
