ECs:
My ECs are virtually nonexistent. However, there is reasoning behind this. You see, I have an autistic little brother and a single-mother who works long hours. These two family issues alone takes up my time. I put my family before myself always. I’m sorry about not having ECs, but it’s more important to me that my little brother is safe. I plan on discussing these two factors and how they’ve allowed me to grow up as a person in my personal statement.

SATs:

I am looking to apply to a liberal arts schools, mainly. Something with good Intl. Relations/Affairs and Poli Sci programs. Preferably, they can be around the D.C. and NYC area.

Here are the colleges I’m looking to at the moment. Please, help me define what possible safeties, matches, and reaches are.

If you can, please tell me what other colleges you suggest for me.

Georgetown University

American University

George Washington University

John Hopkins University

Occidental College

UC-wide schools

University of Mary Washington

Catholic University of America

La Salle University

Marymount Manhattan College

Simmons College

University of Scranton

If you can raise the scores to all 600s, I think with your excellent GPA you could get in any of your private schools. This being if hispanic is Mexican, PR or Central American. My neighbor's daughter of Spanish decent thought she was a URM!

I would check out Swarthmore, its really good for IR and political science! Im not sure how good your chances are, though (seems like you might want to raise your SATs)

reject by georgetown and JHU--you have mediocre rank and bad numbers for these schools. the autistic brother thing is interesting and unique. but even if you write a good essay on it i doubt it would sway the adcoms. of course, if you write an AMAZING essay on it things might change...

in at the rest

Hmm, well this is interesting. Bump!
