Just need a little more help...

Okay, so I've applied to my top choice school (Cornell) ED already. Now, I need some help. I don't know what types of colleges would be my safeties, matches, or reaches. I mean, I have some idea as to what colleges I would like to apply to, but I'm not sure if I have an equal balance of the safeties, matches and reaches. Here is a list of what I have so far:

Swarthmore, Tufts, Brandeis, JHU, NYU, UPENN, Wesleyan, Williams, BC, University of Chicago and Stony Brook.

I have a 3.62 GPA unweighted, 3.82 weighted.

I have taken AP Physics B, AP Stat, AP Language, AP Spanish, AP US, and AP Biology. I am currently taking AP Psych, AP Lit, AP Macro, AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, and AP Chemistry. I got a 2170 on my SAT's (1440 M and CR).

I got an 800 on Bio SAT II, 720 on Math IC, and 720 on Chemistry. As for EC's, I have been starting on varsity lacrosse since 10th grade, varsity basketball, cross country, and varsity football. I am in NHS, Science Olympiads, Math Olympiads, Diversity Club, WAC, and Chess Club. I have played the violin since 3rd grade. I have been accepted into the Columbia Science Honors Program.

In addition, I have volunteered at a local hospital for over 400 hours. I have also volunteered at a local library. Finally, this past summer I went down to New Orleans and helped out with Habitat for Humanity. I am also in training to become a certified EMT!

I have been doing an internship at a hospital dealing with psychiatry. If all goes well, I will become a co-author of a medical journal.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Your GPA is pretty low--no offense. Get some safeties that you like.

None taken. Do you have any suggestions? I've been trying to look around, but I can't seem to find any that really strike my attention.

Somebody?!

Class rank? Ethnicity?

Colgate might be a good fit for you

You list is very reach heavy. Your ECs are oriented towards math/science but the 720 on the mathI isn't going to cut it at many of your schools.

What do you want to study?

Umm, my school doesnt have a class rank, but I come from a very competetive school on Long Island. I am Indian. I want to study medicine (shocking, i know). I might also try for a MD/MBA, if possible. Who knows... I want to major in psychology though or biological engineering.

How would you guys classify the schools that i want to apply to, for example, i know upenn is a big reach...but how about the rest?

Indian? Asian or American...American=all in =D

I don't know if this would have any affect on admissions, but I really want to and could very possibly play DIII lacrosse for schools like Swarthmore, MIT, Weslyan, Williams, and Tufts...

Well, I guess you could say I'm from the subcontinent of India...

Any thoughts?

Are you on the coaches' list?

I'd classify the schools on your list as:

Reach:
Johns Hopkins
Penn
Swarthmore
Williams

Match/Slight Reach:
Univ. of Chicago
Tufts
Wesleyan

Match:
Brandeis
NYU

Safety:
Stony Brook

You have a lot of good credentials, but I think you could use some more safety schools. How about looking at some LAC's with relatively low Asian populations?

Not sure what kind of student body you're looking for, but some possibilities (not necessarily safeties) would be:
Dickinson
Connecticut College
Colby
Colgate (agree with the previous poster)

Or how about the University of Rochester? That might be a good fit for you.

Might look at Holy Cross-near Boston-and Bucknell both schools have good academics and athletics.

One thing that is a must is a beautiful campus and a wonderful social life. I'm a talkative and outgoing person. Can you guys think of any other schools like this that would be good for me?

Skeet skeet?
