Did I totally misinterpret the whole moral of the story or something.... I thought the whole story was criticizing the porcupine woman, but it seems a lot of people thought it was about the beaver's "ill conceived consent."

It was both. The story explicitly divided the moral into 2 paragraphs - one of which warned about getting into hasty agreements, and the other about the porcupine woman's lack of preparation.

if it was both how would you answet the question about what the moral of the story was?

It was "warn against ill-conceived assent". The Q asked about the moral of the story in relation to LAW. Any other choice would have made any sense.

wat were the other choices again?

No, it was example of traditional practices, as pertains directly to law. Did you miss the paragraph where they use SPECIFIC legal examples? How the beaver made a contract by agreeing, how the porcupine woman was within her rights when the beaver went back on his contract, they used all sorts of LEGAL examples. Morally it served as a warning of ill conceived assent, but not LEGALLY.

The.End,

How is warning fellow Native Americans against making hasty legal agreements NOT relevant to law?

If it were an example of traditional practices, then the tradtional practice would have been the ACTUAL ill-conceived assent. This would imply that the tradional practice w/in the Native American community was to make hasty agreements. However, that is certainly not the social or legal moral of the story.

i put"warn against ill-conceived assent"

so did I....

and what did u put for the function of mentioning the way of the bear or something like that

It had a foreboding effect that foreshadowed a new danger for the porcupine woman.

a new peril right? i put that one as well:D

Hey,your discussion reminds me of the June SAT that I took last year.

I put new peril as well as the ill-conceived assent; found it to be most relevant in the legal sense.

whoa this was given in june too.... but in canada or sumtin

In Canada and in Vietnam.;).In any other country?

what did you guys put for that question where one of the answers was women in comparison to her goals and her actual situation?

Merudh, I believe that was the answer I put.

yeah, I said the same thing, but there was another answer I had thought might have worked.

nice...we're doin good. Only possible 3 wrong so far...I can still get above 750. WOOO
