Posse Finalist Confirmation/Rejection

Hi I know this is such a horrible horrible thing to have to ask and even worse to attempt to carry out but I really need to know. I was wondering if it is at all possible to call Posse (when the office opens at 10am) the day right after confirming my spot as a finalist to decline it instead?

Basically we had an informational meeting last night and then we had until 5pm today to make a final decision but it was so rushed and I was so stuck on the fence and stressing and debating all night and all day that I sort of panicked and called them at 4:15 and confirmed. I thought for sure I was making the right decision at the time but now I realize that it was not the right decision and I've learned a little more information and discussed it more with my family and decided for sure it is not going to work out because of some personal/family reasons.

I feel so horrible for changing my mind but I truly feel that I made the wrong decision saying yes and I need to make it right. I haven't signed anything yet and only confirmed by phone if that helps my case any.

Congrats on becoming a finalist. I am sorry that it is not going to work out for you. If you feel that you cannot accept a finalist position, then you should immediately let them know so that they can give that spot to the next person.

Can you defer it for a year? Explain your extenuating circumstances? Ask about reapplying?

Thank you @sybbie719‌ I plan to call today at 10am right when their office opens but Im just really hoping they let me change my answer after I already said yes

@Madison85‌ thanks for replying. The scholarship is only open to high school seniors so I can’t reapply next year or postpone it. As for my circumstances they’re things that are out of the posse foundation’s control so there’s not much they can do for me about that

What a stressful and difficult situation! So, you can’t reapply, but did they say that deferral not ever allowed? Take care of yourself.

They should allow you to reject your candidacy. At our school one year a girl dropped out last minute as well.
It’s your next four years of your life, so don’t worry about what they think. Make the best decision for yourself. Best of luck
