My daughter was semi finalist for posse. She had the interview last month. When would she find out the result?
University of Rochester is one of the posse school she is interested. She is interested in music and psychology. U of Rochester offers doulble major program but you have to apply early decision. I was told that we are not supposed to apply early decision because posse is considered as early decision. Wouldn’t it be Ok to apply U of Rochester since it is one of the posse school?
My kid (Posse Chicago) was notified yesterday, so pretty soon, I would guess. As I understand, she cannot apply to any Posse school, especially if she put it as one of her top choices.
I’m a finalist for Cornell! Does anybody know if the finalist family meeting a group meeting (with all the other finalists in one room) or individual (one family at a time)?
Just got back from meeting, but I expect that you were at your meeting as well. In any case, for future reference, there is a group meeting with info and Q&A for all parents and finalists from that particular batch of schools. Afterwards the parents and kids of each school meet as a group with some alumni of Posse from that school, and then there is some more school-specific Q&A. The kids sign up for a meeting with Posse people to help them get their application together, and you sign your commitment to early decision for the school with which you were paired. You can also wait a couple of days to think about that.
They also provide you with the day, time, and place of the final interview.
No meeting with individual families or kids.
Good luck to all that have their round three interviews today! As the Posse staff have mentioned repeatedly, Posse is much more than just a scholarship. Go get it young people!!!
Good luck to Posse finalists who have not yet had the interview, and I hope that the Posse finalists are getting good news. As for those who do not get the scholarship, I hope that their finalists status helps them be accepted to their favorite schools with good financial packets.
Hi does anyone understand how the posse access works? I just finished my interview on Monday and I didn’t get the scholarship:( but I’m a bit confused on how the Posse Access works. If anyone can help me please:)
There are couple of explanations and stories about people who were not chosen, and had their name added to Posse access on the Posse info thread: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/other-major-scholarships-competitions/1958233-posse-scholarship-ask-away.html#latest
All the best - the fact that you made finalist means that you are an incredibly gifted person, and will likely to very well, both in life and in being accepted into a great college. As I understand, Posse Access will help you with the second.
Congrats to all got in. My D didn’t make it to finalist. She got in University of Rochester but it is too expensive to attend so we might have to send her to Virginia tech. I feel sad because that was her first choice but $43000 vs $17000 is huge differnce.
@Sappo624 VTech is an amazing school - it’s one of the premier public universities in the country. It’s also a beautiful campus with great students. Oh, and it supposedly it’s the college with the best food in the USA. It you ask me, that alone is enough to make anybody excited to go there…
Do you guys think that making semi-finalist or finalist status for Posse is impressive or demonstrates value enough that it can be placed as an honor on the UC application?
I’m not sure, but I would guess that being a finalist can be added, since only a very few are nominated by their schools/organizations, and only 10% of those make finalist.
