Hi!
I wanted to touch base with other parents whose kids are going through the process.
Did you already hear back?
What school has your student being matched with?
My son had his second interview two weeks ago. Still waiting to hear about third interview. Has your child heard anything back yet?
My daughter had her second round a month ago. She was told that we will hear this sometime this week.
What are yours sons top 5?
We are in LA, so I think his choice of schools is different than if you are in a different city. I am not sure how the timing works with having a third interview and getting the application submitted by the ED deadline of Nov 1
If your son is a finalist and wants to move forward with the process , he will be required to do early decision for the school he was matched with. I’m hoping we know before November first.
Good luck!
What city is your daughter applying through?
We’re from Chicago! I think the only Posse school in Cali for us is Pomona.
Pomona is a fantastic school! My so is applying (not Posse) to Pitzer which is one of the Claremont Colleges (I love that they can take classes at any of the colleges. Fingers crossed both our kids make it to the next round!
yes, fingers crossed. Let me know when you hear anything. I’ll update you as well;)
@wendybk, @Holayetsf The letters about finalist status are going out around now. They should be sent directly to your kids, not to you.
Posse finalists do not have to submit by the deadline, because their submission process is different than other ED1 applicants.
Once the finalists have been selected, there is a meeting of all the finalists of each school (separately) at which the next steps are explained. They also give the deadline for withdrawing (for kids who are not happy with the college that they are paired with).
At that meeting, the kids also make an appointment to which they bring all of their required material, and the applications are submitted during that meeting, with somebody from Posse there to make sure everything is OK. Those meetings generally occur after the regular ED1 deadline for the college. My daughter’s meeting/application submission was on Nov 9th.
The Posse ED applications are sent to the admissions offices separately, since they are not reviewed with the rest of the ED1. They are reviewed by the college admissions people who later interview the students at their last interview.
Thank you so much for explaining this! I was trying to figure out the timing on how so much would get done in one week. This was so helpful and I appreciate the time you took to share this info.
Does anyone know if all the 3rd round interview invitations go out at the same time (in each city) or do they go out by groups of schools? My son heard that some students got invited for the 3rd round but it was only three schools. Still holding out hope… but thinking it’s not likely he made it to the next round.
I think they are notified by schools.
My daughter was matched with a school two days ago. She decided not to continue with the process because they matched her with her fifth choice and felt wasn’t the best school for her.
Good luck to everyone.
Hi! My daughter is waiting to hear if she is Finalist through Posse Los Angeles. Good luck to everyone.
Thank you Holayetsf. Good luck to your daughter!
@ Tannison my son is waiting for Posse Los Angeles too!
@Holayetsf Congratulations on your D passing the 2nd interviews and commiserations on her not getting paired with a college she would like to attend. Good luck to your D in her coming applications. If she advanced this far in Posse, I’m sure that she’s an amazing person, and will do very well wherever she attends!
Thank you so much for all the info you provided.
The irony of the whole thing is that my oldest daughter is attending this particular college that my senior was matched with. My two daughters have different personalities and different interests.
Now it’s time to encourage her to finish all the applications by the datelines:)
@wendybk - good luck to your son! What schools is he hoping for? My daughter is in love with Wisconsin.
@Tannison - I am keeping my fingers crossed for your daughter. My son is hoping for Northwestern but would also be happy at others on his list. This has been an amazing experience for him and I love how Posse is set up to help the kids succeed in school. It seems to be such a great opportunity.
