My guidance counselor sent a few students emails regarding the POSSE scholarship. Has anyone had experience with this scholarship program? How competitive is the process, and what is the commitment for recipients on campus?

I have heard of this organization it began in Boston, for first generation low income students going to elite colleges. My impression is that students receive full funding from the posse (tuition, room and board) but don't quote me.
Check out the website for the real 411: http://www.possefoundation.org/
You have a good question, ask the posse to put you in conact w/posse upperclassmen.

I won a Posse scholarship this year, part of Posse Vanderbilt 18. Its an amazing scholarship. It is full-tuition, so you would have to pay for room and board somehow, I covered it thru other outside scholarships. The thing is, for Vanderbilt at least, even their own scholarships are full-tuition only, they all expect room + board on your own.

Any other Qs, ask me.

By the way, it is not just for 1st generation low income students. It is for anyone, of any financial and ethnic/etc background. You just need to score high on the DAP, and you're in.

What is the DAP? And how much of a selection of schools do you have if you are accepted to the program? Congrats on Vandy!
