possibility that california/west coast/nation may have to retake the APUSH exam

NOTE: THIS IS JUST A POSSIBILITY! THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION OF TODAYS EVENTS BY THE COLLEGE BOARD AS OF YET. DO NOT PANIC UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED WORD FROM YOUR SCHOOL ADMIN -- THIS IS SIMPLY A HEADS UP!

Somehow, someway, the ap us history test was compromised (from what ive gathered, someone in an earlier time zone that california called a student a my school and leaked information about the exam). Because of this, the people from ETS (educational testing services, the organization even above college board who is actually in charge of running the various SAT/AP/etc exams) personally had the test at our school canceled. I do not believe that they were informed of this leak until this morning which is why action was not taken sooner.

Due to the premature nature of the information, and the potentially serious consequences, I believe that ETS only shut down the test at my school and let all the other surrounding schools take the test. However, there is a large possibility that because of the developments, many scores of students who DID take the tests will be labeled as "compromised" and canceled.

We do not know the exact details right now, and as it is friday, we probably wont have more information until monday. There was a similar incident that happened a number of years ago when a kid in singapore called a kid in new york and leaked the information on the test. Even though it was just to that one kid, the ETS people canceled the scores for the ENTIRE NATION. This is why we cant be sure whether just the school, the city, the state, the coast, or the country will be affected.

If so, there is also no definite date of reschedule thus far. Assuming they would go by the college board official apush make up date, it would be Wednesday the 26th, but again, we cant be sure.

This is just a heads up -- make sure that you dont do anything that may compromise the situation anymore (like posting sensitive info about the test as a couple of people already have) as I am sure that cb/ets will be investigating this in a LOT more detail. BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU SAY/POST! My only advice would be to stay calm for now, study for your other tests that you may have, and just hope that this wont affect you!

When was this?

And yeah, I really hope this doesn’t happen. If people put more effort into studying instead of cheating, we wouldn’t be having this problem =[

I’m done with APUSH. My friends and I all got together to burn our review books. If I have to take the test again, I am going to die. whoever did this should…

Taking the test again would suck.

its not gonna happen…

^^That’s what I’m avidly praying. =)

How does CollegeBoard or ETS find out that someone made a call? The only way they would find out is if the kid started spreading the test info around and school administrators caught word of it, which is unlikely unless the cheater is really stupid.

doesn’t the kid in singapore take Form B anyway?
cuz he’s an international…
so why would it matter if he called a kid in NY?

Yeah, how would ETS know if someone called someone in the west coast about it? I mean a private organization can only do so much to prevent test details from being spread. But man, if I have to retake the exam because some kid cheated, I will be super mad.

This would be extreme and far-fetched, but they could use some government agency to flag phone calls mentioning specific key words, like they did in Bourne Ultimatum

Where are you getting this from?

i dont think its going to happen
but if the number of answers is more correct than usual
the curve will be harsher

No you guys won’t take the exam again. I am sure.

Such cheating incidents occur every year. Don’t be paranoid. They will never cancel the AP exams of the entire school district, let alone the entire state and nation.

hopefully not

It won’t happen. Do you have any idea how much $ they would lose? It’s probably just your school. Wow, it sucks to be you.
