Possible essay ideas/

the school asks me to write an essay about one of the following topics, and I don't know which of my ideas is best. Prompts below:

Intellectual Excellence - We are committed to the meaningful integration of liberal learning and professional preparation and to learning as a lifelong pursuit. How do you anticipate your college experience will transform your passion into your profession?

Community - We are committed to cultural diversity, mutual respect among all persons, and compassion for others. Share a personal experience that illustrates your commitment to these ideals.

Social Responsibility - Mindful of humanity's interdependence and the dignity of every individual, we are committed to social justice on local, national, and global levels. In what ways have you inspired others to do the same?

Stewardship - We are committed stewards of human, fiscal, and physical resources entrusted to us. We pursue innovations which respect the environment and foster sustainability in the management of our resources. Tell us how you have contributed to your community and helped to improve the lives within it.

Faith, Meaning, and Values - We value the development of the human spirit in its many forms and the exploration of life's ultimate questions through dialogue and service. We value religious freedom and its expression on campus, grounded in our own commitments and traditions as well as those of the United Church of Christ. How has your faith contributed to the development of your values?

for prompt 1, I could write about how i developed my love of history and my goal to work in a museum and share the past with others. i'm worried this will be generic, and i will need grad school to go on to a museum.

for prompt 2, i could write about my experience at a physical therapy clinic mentoring kids with disabilities. major cliche, but i'm disabled so i might be able to put a unique spin on it.

nothing really for prompt 3-i haven't done anything social justice-related

prompt 4-would my volunteering fit better here?

prompt 5-i know they encourage religious freedom, but i'm an atheist. It has shaped my values, but is it too risky?

Thanks for reading, any ideas welcome.

First, an essay will only be cliched if you write it that way. Real experiences are not cliches…essays become cliched when you make sweeping generalizations in an attempt to talk about the world beyond your current experience.

If they have a religious affiliation, it might be too risky. The question seems to be asking about religious faith, which I’m assuming you don’t have? (Of course, an atheist can be religious as long as the religious belief doesn’t involve a god.)

I like your first idea.

thanks! yeah they are religiously affiliated, and I don’t have any kind of faith/spirituality. I might just go with the first topic.

Just out of curiosity, what school is this for?
