Would it be too overdone to write about how passionate I am about the college admissions process?
I know its kind of odd, but since the beginning of junior year I've done nothing but obsess about college statistics, creating spreadsheets, making lists, helping peers etc, anything with the college admissions process.
I'm like CRAZY obsessed and i'm not quite sure itll end once I apply!
But basically, is that a suitable essay prompt or is that not quite quirky/individual/creative enough?

well im not sure if thats the best idea, because once you get into college, that particular passion will be moot… maybe stress something that could actually be continued in college? iono, just my two cents

I’d be interested to hear what other posters say, but I’m afraid that might be viewed negatively. Colleges want kids who actively contribute to campus life, participate in discussions, etc, not obsess about getting into college. I wonder if they would look at some of your other activities and wonder if you did them because you were following your passions, or because it was just part of your obsession with college admissions. That being said, if you can write about it in a humorous, quirky way that doesn’t make you seem obsessive and myopic about the whole admissions process and life, then it may be a good topic. You have plenty of time over the summer - give it a shot, see how it comes out, and see what others think about it and how it makes you come across as a person. Good luck!

Colleges have much more to offer students than “a spot”.

I will stick to my belief that any topic is appropriate, given that the writer can show much more than just the topic by USING the topic to show who he/she is. Your post does not send strong signals that you are aware what the college essay is used for. That being said, either ask around about what the essay is about, or I would suggest trying a different topic.

Ah, I guess that idea is out then.
I just thought it might be creative, but I’ll go some other direction.
Thank you!
