Im going to be taking these classes next semester and I'd like to know what you guys think about it.

Chem 1A- Arnold, J
Math 1A- Haiman, M
Computer Science 61A- Harvey, B
Philosophy 3- Lee, G

These are some questions I'm asking:
1.Is it possible? (Freshman year was mostly used to fulfill breadths in easy classes)
2.My telebears Phase I is on April 30, so what classes should I put for Phase I before the freshman get all the spots?

I’m actually looking at doing the same thing, except substitute CogSci 1 for Phil 3.

Ultimately I’d say it depends on how well you’re prepared. Have you taken CS3? CS61A is a notoriously difficult course and takes A LOT of lab time. Similarly with Chem, it’s a ‘weeder’ course with a lot of hardworking pre-meds that make it competitive. Math 1A is also difficult, I have some really smart friends who ended up not doing so well… If you do take it spend some time reviewing pre-calc over Summer.

As for the philosophy course… Geoff Lee is a young guy, fresh out of NYU. That may mean that his courses are easy, but I started out in his Metaphysics course last semester and he seemed to be really disorganized (it was his first semester I believe). It probably won’t be too demanding, but may just kind of be a waste of time with a lot of material easily learned by some browsing online. I’d say skip it and take Searle’s Philosophy of Mind course in the Spring where you’ll get seriously good philosophy of mind.

A one-unit de-cal is always an option, just to better ensure success in the first three.
