I have been thinking about self studying AP Spanish Lang because although my school offers it, I don't have enough room in my schedule to fit it in, and quite frankly, the teacher hates me. I have taken spanish 1-3 and although I'm not a native speaker, my parents are and I know a LOT of spanish and understand it well. My downside is I'm not the best when it comes to speaking it but I don't think that would be a problem for the exam. Should I just take the time and self study it? And if I should, where should I start, how should I go about studying it, and what books would you recommend for it?

If you’ve taken Spanish 1-3 and you’ve done well on them (mostly A’s) then I think it wouldn’t be impossible, just really hard. Check if your state or school offers virtual school, that could help you. Also, reading books in Spanish would really help you, anything by Isabel Allende is gold to help you, she has a good but simple vocabulary

Check this thread out to give yourself an overview / confidence boost going in. It IS indeed possible:

I would go for it! If your parents are native speakers, ask them to only speak to you in Spanish. Make sure to get lots of review books as well!

Make sure you are aware of the new test format and content this year when you self study for it.

That’s quite an undertaking, but especially if you can get your parents to constantly speak Spanish, your vocab could benefit very much.
