Possible to transfer UC to UC after transferring from CCC?

I got into UCI and was wondering if it's possible to transfer from UCI to UCSD after a year?!!!!! #-o

No.

I know it is not what you what to hear, but @k4201505 is right. If you spend a year at UCI, you would already be in senior standing. UC’s only accept transfer students in junior standing. If you really want to go to UCSD, then spend another year at your CC and apply again. I was really rooting for you to get into UCSD. Their admission process is really flawed, sorry!

To repeat other people comment…Very unlikely

UC’s dont like to take people with Senior Standing. however if there is any consolation as UC student you are allowed to take classes at any other UC for at least one quarter/semester through a inter campus visitor program

<a href=“UCI University Registrar - Intercampus Visitor Program”>http://www.reg.uci.edu/enrollment/intercampus.html</a></p>

You are better off graduating from UCI, with a quarter at UCSD… It would be too risky and time consuming to reapply to UCSD, if you get rejected again you would delay graduation by a year. Which IMO is not worth it since the prestige level between UCI and UCSD is marginal at best.

@bolandgoo‌ !!!

You don’t think you’ll enjoy UCI, @bolandgoo?

@lindyk8: ??? lol

@collegedropout1 @Dagoberto‌ : It’s ok, I’m not saying it because I think there’s much difference between UCSD and UCI academically, I just like the city San Diego more than Orange County. And I have planned to go there since last summer, so…every plan was ruined by rejection! Out of my 63 units, 20 units are Physics, Math etc. that would not count toward graduation from UCI, however UCSD needed them. Now, I’m sure I’ll be at UCI for three years(or maybe more!!! hopefully not)

My admission counselor at UCSD was really an ■■■■■■■■ lol! He/she said they didn’t go over my application at first place because it was incomplete since I didn’t provide my foreign transcript when they asked me to(I really didn’t have it! And I explained in a two page letter why!). However, by the time of the appeal I got the transcript, translated it, and then submit my appeal in hope of at least reviewing my application. Again, they rejected my appeal because “I missed the deadline to submit my foreign transcript”(and they never told me there was a “deadline” for it). That’s what my admission counselor told me. In my UCSD portal, it says I didn’t meet the minimum requirement. A 3.61 GPA with all pre-req done is not enough for CS at UCSD? and 4.0 GPA on my last 3 semesters. I know people with much lower stats got into UCSD from SMC, or at least got wait-listed!
I don’t know what the purpose of appealing is then? I mean they say we have to provide new documents in order for appealing to work, and I had new documents. The person I was chatting with via email was so insensitive. He/she didn’t even respond to my last email!! lol

I wonder if there’s a manager or something at admission office of UCSD I could talk directly to…

@OCnative: I don’t know much about UCI, I’m just angry that I can’t go to where I wanted to despite meeting all the requirements.

@bolandgoo you should definitely try re-appealing. The weird thing about UCSD is that they have the 6 colleges… It is difficult to know who you have to appeal to. Sometimes is all about finding the right person to get in contact with.

@Dagoberto:
I don’t know how to re-appeal…there is only one option at my UCSD portal and that is “Contact”.
I have used that so far(before and after my appeal), and I know every time the same person is answering me back, rejecting me.
I always send him/her a full page message, and he/she always answers back with a one-line message.
I try to convince myself to be content with UCI, but I think of how unfairly I was treated by UCSD admission officers(I mean my application did NOT even get a full review!!), and it makes me…sad! lol

@bolandgoo Wow, that seems harsh, and I thought the administrators at my CC were bad.

@‌ocnative

I go to UCI right now, I don’t enjoy it.

@bolandgoo

Public universities are like the DMV, it’s rare to get good service.

@bomerr‌

you’re transferring from a UC?

@bolandgoo‌

That really sucks! I wanted you to get in to UCSD ever since you mentioned your scenario of the foreign transcripts on the decisions thread awhile back. If anything, you can go to UCSD for grad school.

@‌ ocnative

I’m dual-enrolled at UCI and CC. If you are curious, I don’t feel it’s worth paying money to over CC (or CSU)

@bomerr‌

What is it about UCI that you dislike?

@ocnative: Thanks…I’m 23, too old for graduate school :)…I wanna get out and make some money.
@bomerr: thanks for making me feel better lol

@‌bolandgoo

If it makes you feel any better my prof at UCI said she teaches at UCSD too and it is super competitive, while my Econ prof who graduated from UCSD underground said he didn’t want his son to goto any big public UC so UCSD will be similar to UCI.

@dagoberto: “Sometimes is all about finding the right person to get in contact with.”
I emailed two admission counselors on UCSD website, one told me to apply next year, the other one told me they will reconsider my appeal again :slight_smile:
no good news yet, but you were right! “my” admission counselor was really harsh, but the lady I am exchanging email with is so nice…I’ll see what happens.

I got rescinded at UCLA so I know your feeling, I got very lucky that people affiliated with Academic Advancement Program (AAP) where able to advocate on my behalf and they re-accepted me. sometimes is better to be lucky than good… I dont know anyone at San Diego but I wish you the best… I know the feeling of ‘almost’ being at your Dream School and having it all come crashing down.

@Dagoberto:
Shoot! One of my friends is in the same situation for UCSD…admission being rescinded is even worse than being rejected, he has no option now and have to stay in SMC another year!
Good for you though, we should send the people who helped us some flower if everything goes well lol
